Caterina Neef is a postdoctoral researcher in the SARAI research group at KIT, where she works on socially interactive robots and virtually embodied agents. In her doctoral research, she investigated assistive systems in healthcare and care settings. Her research aims to develop and evaluate socially interactive agents – such as social robots and virtual agents – in ways that meaningfully support people in real-world contexts. To this end, she uses user-centered and participatory methods as well as long-term studies to investigate under which conditions these technologies can provide tangible benefits, particularly in clinical and care settings.

She has an academic background in engineering (undergraduate and graduate studies) and computer science (PhD) and combines technical perspectives with approaches and methods from the social sciences and psychology in her research on human-agent interaction.
